NEWS FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
News from the Superintendent
Hello members and guests, welcome to March. We are looking forward to starting a new season right around the corner. I am still expecting some cold temperatures to continue, but we should be on the downswing of winter.
The maintenance team has done a lot this last month. Preemergent weed control went out with great success. We also sprayed for the poa annua on the greens. This app turned the poa yellow and will hopefully take care of our weed issue. I also was able to get out and punch holes in the greens to cre-ate more pore space for moisture and air to help our roots grow and help bring the turf back from dor-mancy. I was also able to get the ponds sprayed for weeds. This will assist in eliminating the alligator weed in the ponds.
March will be the last month of having three hole placements on greens. I will go back to a single hole before the end of the month. If the temperatures warm up and we start to exit dormancy, we could be back on the grass driving range tees by April. We will just have to see how the weather progresses.
The maintenance team is still looking for help if you know of anyone, please have them contact either Richard or myself for an application. Thank you all for continued support.
Sincerely, Kevin McCamy, GCS
