NEWS FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Here we are in November again. The start of holiday season and watching the grass go dormant is always a fun time. All preemergent is out, and my fungicide program has come to an end. I will continue to spray greens throughout the winter to keep nutrients and color on them.
We will be moving to Mats Only on the Driving Range Nov 1st. this will allow the grass to heal and provide us a great surface come spring. This does not mean to just move to the rough and hit balls, the grass will not grow back through the winter, and it will need time to heal as well.
I will also be setting three pins on greens for the winter. I will start this the first week of November with an upcoming pin change. I will add the other holes over a week or so. They will be changed periodically throughout the winter to allow the areas to heal back as much as they can.
My staff is still shorthanded, but we are doing all we can to keep the golf course looking and playing great. We will be doing a lot of blowing and cleanup the next few months as the leaves and pine straw fall all over the course. We will try our best to avoid being in the way of play, but there will inevitably be some instances where we intersect. We appreciate your consideration when this occurs.
I hope everyone has a great Halloween to start the holiday season. My staff and I wish you all the best for a happy and safe time.
Sincerely,
Kevin McCamy, GCS
