TYGA EVENT AT COHARIE

On the weekend of September 28-29, the Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) staged the Coharie Junior Classic at Coharie CC. There were 82 junior golfers from all over North Carolina that participated with everyone playing the blue tees. The players were separated into two division, ages 13-15 and 16-18. The champion is determined by the low score of both. The top 5 overall finishers earned invitations into the 2024 Bill Harvey tournaments and the top 3 overall finishers earned invitations to the 2024 Anderson Boys’ Invitational, 2025 NC Junior Boys, and 2025 Daniel Meggs tournaments. Each division’s winners earns an invitation to the 2025 TYGA Tournament of Champions.

Following 4.5 inches of rain on Friday, the staff of Coharie did a fantastic job to get the course playable and allow the players to tee off on time on Saturday. The winner in the 13-15 division (and overall winner) was Keane Taino of Pinehurst with scores of 70-68. The winner of the 16-18 division was Noah Fry of Waxhaw with scores of 71-69. Hudson Griffin finished fourth overall. You can see all scores by going to https://cga.golfgenius.com/pages/4519811.
