Member guest time is here, and my staff and I are geared up getting this course ready. We have been doing a lot of mowing, weed eating, and cleanup to prepare for a wonderful weekend. We had a demo greens-mower in here a for a week, and I was thoroughly pleased with the results it gave on our greens. We also had another fairway mower to assist while ours needed some repair. I would like to thank Russell Montgomery (our John Deere Rep) for his assistance with these pieces of equipment.
It has been early mornings and late nights dealing with irrigation computer issues. However, help is on the way with the installation of a new computer and operating system. This will allow for easier control of our irrigation system. It sure is easy to find out what a few weeks of no rain and a down irrigation system can do to dry the course out.
We have had a bit of construction going on the last month. New tee boxes have been built and sodded, I will be putting water on them daily, so they will be wet. I ask that everyone stay off them until they are ready for play. We also had drainage work done on the ponds at 16 green. This will help water flow easier during heavy rainfalls. There is still some work left to do, with the cart path still to be completed. These projects have delayed the resurfacing of the putting green, this will be done later when the budget allows.
