TYGA EVENT AT COHARIE
On August 10-11 the Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) was scheduled to conduct the Coharie Junior Golf Classic at CCC. Because of the weather, it was postponed until the weekend of September 28-29. Saturday’s round with have tee times beginning at 12 noon on both #1 and #10. Sunday’s round will have tee times beginning at 8:30am on both #1 and #10.
The Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) is a division of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and is governed by the CGA Executive Committee. TYGA was formed in 1996 to offer CGA membership to those juniors in NC who are not members of a traditional golf or country club.
TYGA provides playing opportunities for its members, conducts educational seminars & events, acts as a junior golf informational clearinghouse, publishes monthly North Carolina junior rankings, and awards Junior Player of the Year and All-State awards to the top juniors in North Carolina.
Any person age 18 and under who has not started college is eligible for membership into TYGA. Players may participate in TYGA events up until their 19th birthday or the September after their graduation from high school, which ever comes first.
The winner in 2023 was Ty Willoughby from Seaforth High School in Pittsboro, shooting scores of 68-75.
